Eastern Cross Championship 2022
Eastern Cross Championships 2022 was again held at Trinity Park, Ipswich on the same course that would hold the World Masters Cyclocross Championship the following weekend. Riders raced around the purpose-built circuit of varying and often tricky terrain, including obstacles, bends, muddy slopes and bridges. Each race comprised of multiple laps of featuring pavement, woodland trails, grass, climbs, and challenging obstacles requiring riders to dismount and carry their bikes.

Here are some on my favourite photos
It was a damp start to the day and rain on the previous days had the left the course very wet. This soon became very slippery and the riders took to the circuit for thier practice laps. With some light rain the course became very slippery and provided a really challenge for riders as it change from one lap to the next. One bonus was the wet sand allowed a compacted line to form which made it ridable for most of the racers.
This event is part of the Eastern Cross league. The Eastern Cyclo Cross League runs from September to February and includes races in the counties of Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
Cyclo cross is suitable for experienced racers and novices alike. Everyone at the events are very friendly and new faces are always welcome. You will always find someone willing to give you advice or a helping hand if you need it.
